Bridge Street School celebrated its third annual tea party with a difference. Due to timetabling clashes, we had to diverge from the national World Book date and have our very own on Tuesday 4th March, so we could include as many students as possible.
This happened to coincide with pancake day, so instead of a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’, we had a pancake themed banquet! Lashings of syrup, sugar, lemon juice, ice cream, fruit salad sat atop crêpes and American style pancakes. With our resident chef John doing a sterling job of keeping the kitchen going and other Bridge Street staff serving and dolloping topping for our students.
The highlight of the day was our fancy dress costumes with two y11 boys wearing matching pink dresses and our very own resident purple minion! All received prizes for their efforts. Staff were dressed up too from Peaky Blinders to Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland costumes, Harry Potter, Hunger Games and even a gnome.
A great atmosphere all day and one student was overheard exclaiming that this was his new favourite day of the year!
Thanks to all who helped and we look forward to seeing how we can build it up even more next year!
