Our Animal Care course offers students an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and sector-specific knowledge in one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries. Delivered over one or two years, this vocational qualification combines practical skills with applied learning, preparing students for further study or careers in animal care and related fields.
Students will explore three key areas:
- Animal Handling – learning safe techniques for handling and restraining a variety of species.
- Animal Housing and Accommodation – understanding how to prepare, maintain and clean environments to meet welfare needs.
- Animal Health and Welfare – developing knowledge of animal wellbeing, common diseases, and the legal and ethical responsibilities of care.
This course is ideal for learners who want to combine academic study with practical application. It complements GCSE subjects such as Biology and equips students with transferable skills including problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail. Assessment is through a mix of practical assignments and an externally assessed exam, ensuring students are fully prepared for progression to Level 3 qualifications, apprenticeships, or employment in the animal care sector.
