We recognise all students have their own individual needs that will affect the way they can access our educational offer. If your child has as EHCP or is in the process of applying or being assessed, then we will work with you and the other agencies involved to best meet needs.

Some of the information here may help you or others to understand an EHCP and how important it can be for a successful educational journey.

An EHCP describes a child’s special educational needs (SEN), and the help they will get to meet them. An EHCP also includes any health and care provision that is needed. It is a legal document written by the local authority and is intended to ensure that children and young people with an EHC plan receive the support they need.

EHC Plans can be in place from 0 – 25 years. When children have a special educational need or disability that cannot be met by the support available in their early years, school or college setting. The plan then ensures that learning outcomes and expected progress can be met in a range of different ways, but always most appropriate for the individual child or young person.

All EHC Plans must be reviewed annually and you will be invited to attend this meeting along with supporting agencies too. We want the best advice from all professionals involved and of course from the individual child or young person and their parent or carer. If needs change before the annual review, then it may be necessary to carry out an interim review. Bridge Street School will help and advice on this process.

Not always. At Respect, we feel it is really important to be able to offer inclusively to all students. Having a range of alternative and enriching options available that are already timetabled into our pathways of learning, all children and young people are supported to access these. We are different to mainstream offers in that we have much smaller class sizes and where needed, higher staffing ratios to enable individual learning outcomes and progress to be made.
